Lord & Taylor deployed radio frequency identification (RFID) technology in six of its U.S. stores to track inventory on its shoe displays, and since the company has seen a significant increase in sales, according to www.rfidjournal.com. The company intends to roll out the technology to all stores in the United States, as well as at Hudson‘s Bay stores in Canada.
Sears Holdings Corp. is putting Apple iPads and iPod Touch devices in the hands of sales associates at almost 450 Sears and Kmart stores that will let the workers search inventory and help customers order products online and watch product. Sears also announced that it’s also offering free Wi-Fi service for customers. The devices and the Wi-Fi service are being rolled out at 390 Sears stores and 60 Kmart stores.

Jamba Juice and Jack in the Box are testing Google Wallet in a limited trial of the technology. Jamba Juice is supporting Google Wallet at 270 of its approximately 750 locations, including units in the Chicago, Los Angeles, New YorkCity, San Francisco and Washington D.C.markets. Jack in the Box is promoting Google Wallet use at 35 restaurants in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bayareas.
Peet’s Coffee & Tea has partnered with Mastercard and Google Wallet to provide near-field technology payment options at its company-owned stores.
